Witnessing in Silence: Four Amber Figures in the Tunnel
By Eugene Raphael · Night Report · Liminal Light Lab
Technique: inner silence. Outcome: an encounter with four glowing figures, followed by deep peace.
These figures glowed with the same amber energy described on the Amber Figures page, and I count them as the same energetic type.
The tunnel
I was moving down a tunnel made of purple and yellow light. Midway down the tunnel were four figures, glowing with amber energy. When I noticed them, I stopped moving forward to try to understand what I was seeing.
Something in the way they shifted made me realize they had noticed my attention on them. They moved backward, as if gliding. Somehow I could tell they were still "facing" me. They were beckoning me forward in an almost taunting, teasing manner.
The harder I tried
I began moving down the tunnel again. In a split second they were even farther away. I lost my focus and went back to an old habit of trying to fixate images by staring at them, instead of cohesively binding my view together. I'm not sure what that really means, but it's the best way I can describe it.
I inched down the tunnel as they drew farther away. I knew I had to catch up with them! The farther away they got, the slower I moved.
I threw everything I had into moving faster, to join them. That just made everything worse, and in my desperation to keep up they slipped away, dissolving back into infinity.
Peace
The vision faded, and a warm sensation of peace cascaded around my motionless body. I almost felt like I was floating. It was the most serene and sublime feeling I have ever experienced.
I wanted to go back, to reenter silence and find them, but I knew I would have to wait for another day.
Takeaways
Staring fixes, binding flows. Staring at the figures pushed them away; holding the whole view together is what keeps a scene.
Effort can backfire. Desperation to keep up made me slower.
