The Rocks: Zooming Into the Mountain

This came seconds after I woke from The Starry Sky dream, the same night.

Technique: phase methods: wake back to bed, then rolling out at the moment of waking. Mask: LucidMe. Outcome: a lucid dream, seconds after The Starry Sky.

Rolling back in

Undeterred by having woken up, I used the same method to go back. I had an advantage: having left the dream already aware, it was easy not to move upon waking. I used the exact moment of waking to roll off my bed, and again briefly lost awareness.

The wrong exit

I found myself in the break room at work. There was garbage and food all over the tables. An employee was there looking for something. I was going to help him, but something seemed off. I headed toward my office but instead found a bright white hallway that exited the building.

This is not right, I thought. That's not the exit. I'm dreaming.

Two rocks

I went through the white corridor, rubbing my hands together. My vision was fuzzy again. To keep my hands free for movement, I looked around for some rocks.

Vision still fuzzy, I found two rocks that fit my hands perfectly. I could distinctly feel their texture. The one in my right hand was jagged and coarse, as large as my palm but mostly flat. The one in my left hand was smooth and small.

I caressed the rocks with my thumbs and began really looking around me. The dream world coalesced into startling clarity. I was in a rocky area, perhaps the desert at the edge of a small town's industrial zone.

Into the mountain

The town didn't interest me; my view was drawn to the rocky mountainside. I picked a rocky area in the distance, intending to zoom over to it, to pull my dream body to its position. I flew there instantly.

Standing atop that rocky hill, I picked another in the distance to zoom to. Instead, my view zoomed into it.

The intricate detail of the rock's structure became apparent in a way that's hard to describe. I saw minutiae of detail, tiny granules of different colored minerals. The grains and rocks became a universe down to the infinitesimal.

Amazed, I shifted my view and kept zooming around and into the earth this way, over and over. I couldn't stop. I did this until I simply woke up. It was an amazing, surreal experience, with a level of detail surpassing my waking perception.

I woke up exhilarated. I didn't even make another attempt. It had been so easy that I honestly felt I could do it again if I wanted to.

Takeaways

Notice the wrong exit. A hallway where my office should be was the dream sign.

Hold something. Feeling the rocks with my thumbs brought the dream into clarity and kept my hands free.

Intent of movement can become intent of seeing. The first time I flew to the hill; the second time, my view zoomed into it.
