Practice: The Series for Preparing Intent (long form) and Class 1: Dreaming 101, about twice a week. Theme: early observations of how Tensegrity changed my entry methods.

These are simply early observations. The daily world has a hold on me right now, and I've only made time to practice about twice a week.

My body remembered

The first thing I noticed doing the Series for Preparing Intent in long form was that my body remembered most of the movements, even though it had been a long time since I practiced them daily. When did the VHS tapes come out? That's how long.

While working through the long form, I had a weird physical memory. I realized I'd been executing pieces of the short forms subconsciously, through kinesthetic memory, for years. I suspect this kept a tiny line of energy moving and stopped my dream practice from going completely stagnant.

How I enter dreaming

I use two methods, and both rely on exteriorizing sensation. The indirect method comes after 4 to 6 hours of sleep. The direct method happens at sleep onset; it has a much lower chance of success and takes far more discipline.

Lying on the bed, not moving, with the internal dialogue shut down, I create a sensation of the body and push it into the dream state. Lately what works is rubbing my dream hands together. I put intense effort into feeling it until I have a very real sensation that my hands are rubbing together. For a moment I have four arms: my physical arms lying inert, and dream arms I can't see but can feel. This is critical for me because I can't visualize.

When the sensation becomes overpowering, awareness of the body disperses, and with a certain focus of will I find myself in a dream scene, or a dream version of my room.

The indirect method hasn't changed. The direct method is where things got interesting.

What changed

The sensations got much stronger. I was lying in bed with my eyes open, gazing into the darkness and rehearsing, when I tried to feel my dream hands rubbing. I felt them almost instantly. Then I saw a spark of white light in the area of the sensation, and a whitish outline around both dream arms.

Sleep-onset scenes became more sustained and coherent. In one, I was struck with a physical certainty that I was viewing a real place.

My dream arms took on a life of their own. One night, while viewing imagery and silencing my mind, they came out on their own. I saw them reaching to the edges of a sphere around me, maybe 4 to 5 feet in each direction, made of outlines of whitish light. They were scooping tiny white particles of light at the perimeter and bringing them back to areas around my body.

I felt a rush at my core and an odd exhilaration as a column of whitish-blue light coned up from my feet to a point above my head. Then came a weird sensation in my head, as if something had been crushed and ejected. My throat felt stuck, and I almost panicked, thinking I couldn't breathe, but when I checked I was taking long, deep breaths and everything was fine. Part of me fought to end it; another part was exhilarated and charged.

Afterward I kept seeing imagery of the more normal dreaming variety, and my arms kept reaching into the scenery, moving it along. Several times, as I began to lose awareness in it, my arms signaled, in some way within the dream, that I would not be losing awareness right now.

I didn't fully enter dreaming, but I can only conclude the assemblage point moved for both of these things to happen.

Conclusion

Tensegrity frees stagnant energy and feeds it into the energy body. Mine was nearly depleted from lack of use. Intent and silence matter, but above all, energy. Do the work. An energy body with enough energy will act on its own, like a deflated balloon that got its first breath of air in 15 years.
